SHARE (SAVINGS) ACCOUNTSShare AccountThe basic savings account the Credit Union offers its members. The first $5.00 on deposit in each member's Share account establishes their part ownership of the credit union, making them a member/owner and allowing them to vote in the election of board members at the credit union annual meeting. Share accounts pay interest monthly and statements are mailed quarterly. The Share account, like all Liberty Alliance Federal Credit Union accounts, is insured (to $100,000.00) by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Kids ClubA share account set up for a child or other relative of an existing member. For children 12 years of age and younger. Kids Club accounts earn the same interest rate as Share accounts. This account is an ideal introduction to saving money/banking for children. Coloring books and crayons are given out at the time the account is opened. Christmas ClubA savings vehicle for the holiday season. Most members with Christmas Club accounts make deposits all year long via direct deposit. Funds from this account are then automatically transferred into members' Share accounts during the first 10 days of October, just in time for the holiday season. Vacation ClubThis secondary type of savings account pays the same interest as a share account and is useful for saving money for a specific purpose, such as a vacation. Vacation club funds are available any time. Share CertificateOur version of a Certificate of Deposit. The minimum deposit to open is $500.00. Terms from 90 days to 5 years are available. Share Certificates earn higher interest than Share accounts, with dividends posting quarterly. (1-800-499-3777) Regular IRA, Roth IRA, Education IRAThe Credit Union offers Regular IRAs, Share Certificate IRAs, Education IRAs and Roth IRAs. IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts) are tax deferred investment vehicles. Many members purchase IRAs to supplement other retirement plans. Tiered ServicesSome LAFCU fees are determined by points that are awarded based on how many products and services a member uses. The total points a member earns will put them into one of four categories:
